The second-generation Tesla Roadster’s reveal has been delayed once again.
Elon Musk, who Tesla shareholders overwhelmingly voted to give a new pay package worth up to $1 trillion, confirmed during the company’s shareholder meeting that the first Roadster demo is now scheduled for April 1, 2026.
Musk had previously said that it would happen before the end of this year. The car was first unveiled as a concept in 2017.
Tesla started taking $50,000 and $250,000 down payments for reservations on the sports car back then and still holds many of them. That said, a few have started requesting refunds.

They’ll have to wait longer than next April to get their cars, however, as Musk said actual production won’t start until 12-18 months after the reveal, pushing it well into 2027.
There will be a new Tesla model entering production in April, however, as is the new target for the two-seat autonomous Cybercab to start rolling out of the factory in Austin, Texas, in volume.

Musk spoke about the Roadster reveal on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast last week and said, “whether it’s good or bad, it will be unforgettable.” “This is some crazy crazy technology we have in this car, crazy technology. Crazy, crazy.”
He has previously said it will have a SpaceX-designed cold gas thruster pack that will allow it to hover and give it incredible acceleration, but did not go into details on the podcast.
“If you took all the James Bond cars and combined them, it’s crazier than that.”
