Part of the M1 has been closed after a car crashed into a barrier and landed on its side. National Highways confirmed that the road was closed in South Yorkshire, between Junction 30 for Balborough, and Junction 31 for Aston.
Emergency services headed to the scene following the collision at about 5.30am. The police, fire and ambulance service are currently in attendance, the authorities confirmed.
Diversions are currently in place for drivers to avoid the closure.
All lanes have now reopened on the M1 northbound betwen J30 and J31 following the collision. However, National Highways advised: "Please allow extra journey time whilst the remaining residual delays clear on approach."

  • Drivers with vehicles under 14'3 have been advised to follow the solid circle diversion symbol on road signs. National Highways told motorists:
  • The road remains closed northbound between J30 and J31 following the collision. Recovery and road surface clean up works are being undertaken at the scene, National Highways confirmed.
    It added: "No significant delays reported on approach."
    National Highways confirmed that part of the M1 was closed following a crash earlier this morning. It said: "The M1 in South Yorkshire is closed northbound between J30 (Barlborough) and J31 (Aston), due to a collision.
    “At approximately 05:30 this morning, National Highways were made aware of an incident whereby a vehicle collided with the nearside barrier.
    “South Yorkshire Police, Fire, Ambulance Services and National Highways Traffic Officers are currently in attendance.”
