Toyota has issued a new vehicle recall due to a potential crash risk. Here’s the complete list of affected models.
When automakers identify potential safety hazards or defects that could cause accidents, they issue recalls to prevent further risk. This is the case with Toyota, which has reported possible engine malfunctions in certain models. Here’s what you need to know about the affected vehicles and how to check if yours is on the list.
On November 6, the company announced it will carry out a safety recall affecting certain Toyota and Lexus vehicles. According to Toyota, approximately 127,000 vehicles across both brands — only conventional gasoline models — are included in this recall in the United States.
“There is a possibility that certain machining debris may not have been cleared from the engine when it was produced. In the involved vehicles, this can lead to potential engine knocking, engine rough running, engine no start, and/or a loss of motive power. A loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds can increase the risk of a crash.”
Toyota said it is still developing a remedy for the issue and that customers will be notified at the beginning of January next year. The vehicles affected by this recall include Toyota Tundra models from 2022–2024, Lexus LX models from 2022–2024, and the 2024 Lexus GX.
Even if you own one of the models listed above, your vehicle might not be part of the recall campaign, so it’s important to verify.
To confirm whether your vehicle is included in this or any other recall announced by Toyota, visit the manufacturer’s website or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall portal. To check, you’ll need to enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or your license plate information.
The VIN — a 17-character combination located on the dashboard near the bottom of the windshield on the driver’s side — may also be required if you contact your dealership to schedule a repair.
