The ID. Unyx 08 is a product of the Volkswagen Anhui joint venture and will reach Chinese dealers in 2026
Six months after unveiling the ID.EVO at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, Volkswagen has shared photos of the production version dubbed the ID. Unyx 08. The fully electric SUV will go on sale next year as the latest member of VW’s ever-expanding lineup in China.
The ID. Unyx 08 is a product of the Volkswagen Anhui joint venture between JAC Motors and the German brand. The exterior design looks nearly identical to the concept, with sleek surfacing, frameless doors, blacked-out A-pillars, toned rear shoulders and the characteristic LEDs positioned very close to the VW emblem. A cool touch is the illuminated wolf badge on the third brake light under the rear spoiler.

A direct comparison reveals small changes for production, including the slightly different split headlights and taillights, the shut lines on the hood and tailgate, the visible ADAS sensors, the flush door handles, and small tweaks on the front bumper intake and the rear diffuser. In one of the photos, the SUV rides on the concept’s five-spoke alloy wheels, featuring a copper diamond-cut finish and Brembo brake calipers.
VW has yet to share photos of the interior, but said that the model will be equipped with an AI assistant and offer L2++ ADAS. As with the vast majority of Chinese-built EVs, we expect a large infotainment display on the middle of the dashboard and a smaller digital instrument cluster.
The SUV measures 5,000 mm (196.9 inches) long, 1,954 mm (76.9 inches) wide, and 1,688 mm (66.5 inches) tall, with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm (119.3 inches). That makes it 318 mm (12.5 inches) longer than the US-spec Tiguan and 101 mm (4 inches) shorter than the Atlas, although its wheelbase is even longer.
Unlike some rivals that offer a range-extender powertrain option, the ID. Unyx 08 will be exclusively available in fully electric form. It rides on an 800V architecture and will be offered with single and dual electric motors with a promised CLTC range of over 700 km (435 miles).

According to data from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the rear motor is good for 308 hp (230 kW / 313 PS), and the front unit contributes another 188 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) for a combined 496 hp (370 kW / 503 PS) in the AWD version. Energy will be sourced by a CATL lithium-iron-phosphate battery with an uknown capacity.
When it hits the roads in 2026, the ID. Unyx 08 will be the third model in the growing Volkswagen Anhui lineup next to the smaller ID. Unyx 06 crossover, which is based on the Cupra Tavascan, and the ID. Unyx 07 sedan. It will soon be joined by another electric sedan with similar styling that will share its underpinnings with the Xpeng P7.
Overall, Volkswagen will launch 30 new models through its joint ventures in China, with 20 of them being electrified.
