BERTIE COUNTY, NC — UPDATE: Officials state that both lanes of travel on Highway 17 Williamston Field Bridge have been reopened.
ORIGINAL: The Bertie County Sheriff's Office announced that both lanes of Highway 17 on the Williamston Field Bridge are closed as of 7:22 a.m. following a multi-car accident and hazardous roadway conditions.
First responders are currently on the scene, and the highway is expected to remain closed for an extended period. Authorities advise the public to avoid the area and will provide updates when the highway reopens.
