CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WJAR) — Cumberland police said Wednesday that a driver was killed when their car crashed and caught fire.
Police were called to the scene on West Wrentham Road at about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday.
"Upon arrival, officers observed a 2010 blue Volvo S40 on an embankment on the southbound side of the roadway, fully engulfed in flames," police said in a statement. "The Cumberland Fire Department extinguished the fire. Once the scene was made safe, first responders located one individual deceased inside the vehicle."
The name of the person who died has not been released.
The cause of the crash was under investigation
