Fond du Lac, WI – A Thursday morning pursuit on I-41 in Fond du Lac County ended in a crash that injured one driver and led to the arrest of a suspect who allegedly had methamphetamine and a stolen firearm inside the vehicle, according to local authorities.
According to Captain Chris Randall of the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 7:50 a.m. when deputies were alerted to a stolen vehicle traveling northbound on I-41 near County Highway Y. A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper located the vehicle moments later and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle slowed but took an unusually long time to stop.

A Sheriff’s Deputy arrived shortly after, and within seconds the suspect allegedly fled, prompting a pursuit. The chase lasted about 3.1 miles before the suspect reportedly struck an uninvolved motorist near W. Johnson Street and I-41. Another motorist was also hit but not injured.
Authorities say the suspect moved erratically inside the vehicle before eventually exiting and being taken into custody without further incident.
A search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 2.5 ounces of suspected methamphetamine scattered inside the cabin, an empty pistol holster on the driver’s seat, and a loaded pistol later determined to be stolen out of Missouri, officials said.
The injured driver was treated at the scene by Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue and released. W. Johnson Street was closed for about one hour while investigators processed the scene.
The suspect—who authorities say has an extensive criminal history in Wisconsin and was on Department of Corrections community supervision—was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail on multiple charges, including eluding, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, and operating while intoxicated (second offense).
