INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Twenty new Indiana State Police troopers — members of the 87th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy class — on Wednesday got their new patrol vehicles.
ISP used the ceremony as an opportunity to unveil the new look of its patrol vehicles, which will be the look of the ISP on the highway moving forward.
The 20 probationary troopers, all of whom just successfully completed field training, received the very first of these new-look Durangos.
“As these new troopers begin their service, they carry forward a proud tradition of protecting Hoosiers with integrity and courage,” said Gov. Mike Braun. “The new patrol vehicles are a fitting way to mark this next chapter — honoring our history while equipping the Indiana State Police for the future.”
“While the color scheme is a salute to our past, it is also a bridge to the future of the Indiana State Police , a future that each of these young Troopers will help forge,” said ISP Superintendent Anthony Scott, according to a news release from ISP headquarters in Indianapolis.
“For more than 70 years, the bond between Stellantis and the Indiana State Police has been forged in strength, reliability, and a shared commitment to public service,” said Ryan Austin, law enforcement program manager for Stellantis.
ISP on Wednesday also said five seasoned troopers will receive a 2024 Mustang GT patrol car, with those Mustangs also outfitted with the new ISP look of white over blue.
Mustang GTs have been in the ISP fleet in the past but have not been part of the fleet for several years according to a Facebook post form Indiana State Police at Bremen.
ISP is divided into five areas, with a Mustang assigned to each.
