Assembly line workers at the Louisville, Kentucky Ford plant have built many large vehicles over the years, including the Expedition in 2017 (pictured) and most recently the Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair. Soon they will be making a new “Model-T” EV pickup.
The Ford Motor Company says it will discontinue two of its mid-sized SUVs: the Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair. The move is to clear the assembly line for the production of the automaker’s Model T EV pickup.
Currently, both the Escape and Corsair are made at the Ford assembly plant in Louisville, Kentucky, and that’s the plant Ford plans to produce the new EV pickup. Ford says the 2026 model will be the last of the Escape and Corsair and notes it has plenty of inventory to continue selling the cars into next year.

"Compact SUVs are a hot commodity, so it's no surprise that the Ford Escape has been very popular," Car and Driver, a fellow Hearst outlet, writes. "Ford sold 146,859 Escapes last year, which is over 22,000 more than the number of Bronco Sports it sold. Meanwhile, the more luxurious Lincoln brand managed to move 27,513 copies of the similarly sized Corsair."
Car and Driver describes the Model T EV pickup as “a mid-size EV pickup truck that will be the size of a Ford Maverick but with the interior space of a Toyota RAV4 SUV.”

Inside EVs reports the Louisville Ford assembly plant will get a $2 million upgrade and writes, "If things go as planned, it could disrupt the U.S. auto industry. America loves trucks, but an affordable electric truck has remained elusive in the U.S. EV market.
“Instead, automakers have focused on hulking pickups with huge batteries that are expensive and incredibly heavy. Ford is aiming to herald a new era of affordable EVs, starting with a low-cost truck.”
The new EV pickup is slated to be released in 2027.
