A woman cheated death today (18 November) after her Suzuki Swift was crushed by construction rubble in Batu Caves, Gombak, Selangor.
The woman, fortunately, was saved by the public who removed her from the car, minutes before the firefighters arrived.
A woman was almost killed after rubble fell on her Suzuki Swift
Assistant Director of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department’s (JBPM) Operations Division, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, said his department received an emergency call at 1:47 PM.
A team of personnel from the Selayang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was then deployed to the location on the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) in Batu Caves, which is near the Gombak toll plaza.
The first machinery arrived at 2:14 PM, and the operations commander reported that there was debris from the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) construction that hit a Suzuki Swift car.
The relevant authorities are investigating the cause of the construction collapse
The operation was conducted by seven personnel along with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Services (EMRS) Unit. According to Ahmad, there was no other victim at the crash site, as reported by Sinar Harian.
In another video report by the Malaysia Gazette, the incident also caused a major traffic congestion in the area as the rescue work and the removal process were taking place.
According to ECRL’s website, the rail link offers a faster and more comfortable travel experience, cutting the journey from Gombak to Kota Bharu, Kelantan down to just 4 hours via the express service. It is expected to be operational by January 2027.
