Mafia: The Old Country, which first released on August 7, will be getting a completely free update on November 20th across all platforms. This isn’t a typical bug-fixing update, but one that adds a ton of new bonus content to enhance the gaming experience. This update doesn’t add any new story missions, but it still offers plenty of content to expand the game. Let’s go through everything that’s being included.
Free ride mode already exists in Mafia: The Old Country, allowing you to explore the vast world Enzo occupies and completing a few collectible tasks. However, with the new update, two new challenges have been added: Horse and Car Races, and Combat Challenges.
Challenges are unlocked by playing the main story. You can access Free Ride Mode via the main menu, as well as the pause menu.
For each type of challenge, there are three reward tiers. As you complete each challenge and rank up, you unlock better rewards, including increasing Dinari (in-game currency) to spend at Pasquale’s store.
Enjoy racing around in cars? The Free Ride Update offers more opportunities for racing.
There are two types of races in Mafia: The Old Country: horse races and car races. To start a race, you need to do one of the following, depending on the race:
Further dividing up these two categories are four subcategories of races, each with three challenge tiers of completion (except for Time Trials, which have six), which are:
Put your horse riding skills to the test with new races.
The other type of challenge focuses on combat, which you can start by speaking to Valerio.
There are two types of combat challenges, which include:
Want more combat? Put yourself to the test with two new types of challenges.
Equip Enzo with a host of new items and possessions, including weapons, cars, charms, and outfits. More specifically, the following has been added with the update:
Notably, one charm in particular has a unique and useful ability, especially for collectible hunters. If you equip the new Esploratore, it will help you locate nearby collectibles, including those elusive silver fox statues.
The Free Ride Update provides more useful items and resources for Enzo.
For the first time in the history of the Mafia franchise, first-person driving is coming to Mafia: The Old Country. This is available in campaign mode and free ride mode, whether you’re on your way to a new mission, competing in a race, or just taking a leisurely drive. As you take the wheel in Enzo’s eyes, you’ll be able to see detailed interiors of cars and close-ups of character animations.
The driving experience in Mafia: The Old Country will be transformed with the new FPV.
It’s been highly requested by fans, and now it’s here: Photo Mode has landed in Mafia: The Old Country via the Free Ride Update. With the push of a button, you can capture the wild adventures of Enzo’s story or even just take shots of the beautiful scenery. You can also share them online.
Photo Mode features several filters and options, such as:
Take breathtaking photos with the new Photo Mode.
If you want to really immerse yourself in the era of classic Italian cinema, you can with the new Cinema Siciliano Mode, complete with black-and-white visuals, vintage audio, Sicilian voice acting, and a decluttered UI.
Immerse yourself in the true classic Italian cinema with the new mode.
If Mafia: The Old Country didn’t feel difficult enough for you, a new mode has been added to challenge you. Evoking what was brought in Mafia and Mafia: The Definitive Edition, Classic Difficulty brings tougher enemies, less generous health regeneration, and the loss of unspent bullets when reloading.
Is Mafia: The Old Country too easy for you? Why not challenge yourself with the new Classic Difficulty!
New challenges aren’t the only addition to Free Ride Mode in Mafia: The Old Country. You can now adjust the weather via the sundial found outside Enzo’s apartment. You have a choice of four different weather types to set the scene to, including:
