A24 reopens in West Sussex after rolled-over car caused major delays

Two collisions have been reported in West Sussex.
Rusper Road – between Rusper and Crawley – is said to be partially blocked after a multi-vehicle collision around 8.20am.
AA Traffic News reported: “Partially blocked and slow traffic due to crash, three vehicles involved on Rusper Road both ways at Burnthouse Lane.”

The AA has also advised of an incident in Mid Sussex – whereby a car collided with the side of a house.
The report read: “Slow traffic due to crash on B2036 Brook Street both ways between Sparks Lane and Brook Green. North of Cuckfield.”
Compass Travel confirmed that its buses on the 62 route will be impacted: “Due to a RTC on Brook Street, Haywards Heath, the 09.05 from Balcombe, Half Moon will be starting at Whitemans Green at 09.14. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
Elsewhere in the district, queueing traffic has been reported for one mile on A272 Bolney Road – both ways near Oakfield Road. Congestion has been reported to Station Road back across the A281 roundabouts.

Meanwhile, South East Water is working to find an urgent solution, after a supply issue in Burgess Hill. The company said it is ‘really sorry to those of you who have no water or low water pressure’.
The incident has been reported in Junction Road, with the latest update provided at 7.40am on Thursday.
In Worthing and Chichester, traffic delays are said to be increasing on the A27 – but there have been no incidents reported.
The AA reported: “Delays of eight minutes and delays increasing on Crockhurst Hill eastbound between A27 Arundel Road and A27. Average speed ten mph.

“Delays of seven minutes and delays easing on A27 Chichester Bypass eastbound between A27 (Emsworth Services) and A259 Cathedral Way (Fishbourne roundabout). Average speed ten mph.”
Over in East Sussex, South East Water has been dealing with another incident. East Sussex Highways reported: “Rodmill Drive, Eastbourne is currently closed due to a water leak and ice on the road.
“The road will be reopened once the area has been made safe. Thank you for your patience.”
The AA added: “Road closed due to burst water main and ice on Rodmill Drive – both ways between Beverington Road and A2021 Kings Drive / Cross Levels Way (Rodmill roundabout).”

Stagecoach South East advised customers on X (formerly Twitter) that its buses are impacted.
A travel notice read: “Due to burst water main, Rodmill [Drive] is closed and we are unable to serve this road. [The] affected services are 51/52/53/6/1A.”
Sussex Traffic Watch reported a collision, involving up to four vehicles, on Ditchling Road, Brighton – ‘south of the five-way traffic lights’.
There has also been an unspecified incident on the A27.
The AA reported: “Partially blocked, traffic problem and queueing traffic on A27 eastbound after the A293 Hangleton Link (Portslade / West Hove turn off). Congestion to the Southwick Hill Tunnel, and over a mile back down the A293 to Sainsburys. Possibly a breakdown.”

“Delays of eight minutes and delays increasing on A27 eastbound between A27 and A2038 King George Vi Avenue (Hove turn-off). Average speed 15 mph.”
In the Wealden village of Laughton, B2124 Lewes Road has been reported as closed both ways due to ‘emergency roadworks’.
In Hastings, Wilmington Road is closed until Friday (November 21) due to ‘emergency carriageway repairs’. That’s according to Stagecoach, which added: “Services 73 & 324 are diverting via Hoads Wood Road.”
Bus stops on Bohemia Road (Summerfields Leisure Centre and Magdalen Road) are closed until Sunday, November 30, due to SGN works. Alternative bus stops are located on Bohemia Fire Station and White Rock Gardens.

The Newhaven Swing Bridge is due to open at 11am, with motorists planning to travel on the A259 advised to ‘expect delays’.
The AA added: “Delays of seven minutes and delays increasing on A259 Marine Drive westbound between Lincoln Avenue and B2123 High Street. Average speed ten mph.
“Delays of six minutes and delays increasing on Boship roundabout northbound between A22 Hailsham Bypass and A22 Whitesmiths. Average speed 15 mph.”
In Surrey, no collisions have been reported but there is plenty of traffic disruption.
