Kate Mitchell said her daughter and her friend were on their way home from Taco Bell in Raleigh  when a white truck in front of their car wouldn’t move. They honked their horn.
“I think it just turned into a road rage incident where he chased them through Renaissance Park up and down the road,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell said the truck driver sideswiped the car at one point before following them to a home on Ileagnes and Chapanoke roads.
“They ended up in front of my friend’s house and the truck just pulled up beside them and started shooting, unloading a rifle into their car,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell said there were multiple bullet holes throughout the car with the back window blown out and a bullet hole through the front driver side window. When gunfire started, her daughter’s friend leaned out of the driver’s seat and onto the passenger side where she was sitting, shielding her.
“A bullet grazed his arm,” Mitchell said of the friend.
The driver is a senior in high school, according to his mother. It’s unclear the age of the girl.
