Two people have died in a collision between a motorcycle and a car on an A-road.
Part of the A505 near the Cat Ditch Road junction between Royston and Baldock was closed for several hours after the incident at about 23:30 GMT on Friday.
Hertfordshire Police said the ambulance service attended but the bike's rider and passenger died at the scene.
A police spokesperson added their next of kin had been informed and were being supported by specially trained officers.
Sgt Luke Jenkins from Hertfordshire's road policing unit said: "Inquiries are continuing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this collision, and I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to please get in touch."
