This Independence Day, Mahindra will host the ‘Freedom NU’ event in Mumbai. The Indian automaker is set to showcase four new SUV concepts namely: Vision.T, Vision.S, Vision.SXT and Vision.X. Also, the carmaker will also be taking the wraps off a brand new platform alongside these concepts, which will support multiple bodystyles and powertrains. Here’s what to expect from Mahindra this August 15.
The Vision.T, based on the teaser and as the name suggests, is expected to be based on the Mahindra Thar E concept unveiled in South Africa in 2023. The teaser clearly shows the upcoming concept, featuring a boxy silhouette and off-road tyres, which hints at a more evolved version of the all-electric Mahindra Thar concept.
This could probably be the new-generation all-electric or a hybrid version of the Mahindra Scorpio that is based on the new Freedom NU platform. Previous teasers have already revealed a tall stance and a dominating grille, just like the current-gen Scorpio N. One can expect the production version of this model to be based on the new platform.
As shown in teasers, a heavy-duty bumper, clamshell bonnet, and exposed hinges all indicate that the Vision.SXT is likely going to be a lifestyle adventure pickup based on either the Mahindra Thar or Mahindra Scorpio. There’s also a possibility of this being a more evolved version of the Global Pik Up that was showcased in South Africa in 2023: the launch or the debut timelines for the Vision.SXT is yet to be announced.
It’s going to be a concept SUV which would sit between Vision.T and Vision.S as a family-oriented SUV, just like how we see Mahindra’s XUV range in the existing lineup. The teaser revealed the Vision.X with a connected LED setup and smoother lines compared to the Vision.T and Vision.S. It will also boast more premium features in contrast to the other two SUV concepts. Mahindra is yet to announce the debut timeline for the Vision.X.
Alongside these four new SUV concepts, Mahindra is also set to announce a new ‘NFA’ platform, which will be a next-gen flexible architecture. It will not only support a wide range of body styles, but will also be able to accommodate multiple powertrains, be it ICE (internal combustion engine), EV, or hybrid. Also, the next-gen Mahindra Bolero (or the Mahindra Thar Sport) will be based on this platform. With this new architecture, Mahindra aims at the annual production capacity of up to 1.2 lakh vehicles at its new Chakan manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra
