A 100-metre cordon is in place ‘as a safety precaution’ following the incident in Pagham Road, according to West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (WSFRS).
The road is closed near the junction of Nyetimber Lane, according to AA Traffic News. Sefter Road is also reportedly closed.

Six flats and one house have been evacuated, WSFRS said. Residents have been transferred to Pagham Church Hall.
A WSFRS spokesperson said: “We have three crews in attendance.
“Avoid the area to allow firefighters to work safely.”
