A man was burnt to death after his car caught fire on the Outer Ring Road in Medchal district on Monday (November 24, 2025) morning. The police said the vehicle appeared to have been parked safely on the roadside moments before it was engulfed. The deceased was identified as Durga Prasad, who was found completely charred inside his Ford Ecosport.
The incident took place between 5.45 a.m. and 6 a.m., under Shamirpet Police Station limits. Police said the car had entered the ORR from the Dundigal tollgate and was heading towards Keesara.
Preliminary findings suggest he pulled over, applied the handbrake and reclined the seat, possibly switching on the heater before falling asleep. Officers said the heat and trapped gases may have knocked him unconscious before he became aware of the fire.
The vehicle was fully ablaze within minutes. Fire personnel and police reached the spot and extinguished the flames, but the driver could not be saved. Shamirpet Police have booked a case and are investigating whether the blaze was triggered by an electrical short circuit or any other cause.
