Rolls-Royce continually works to improve the local area around its headquarters
One of Britain's most luxurious car brands has given the green light to install speed awareness devices for a local community to improve road safety for all motorists.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has funded the installation of two new Speed Indicator Devices in Westhampnett Parish Council.
The solar-powered devices show a "happy" face when someone is driving the speed limit, and a "sad" face when someone is exceeding the limit.
While there are no speed cameras involved in the project, the boards are designed to encourage safer driving behaviour.
When travelling past, drivers will have a direct awareness of their speed, especially in areas where there could be a greater number of vulnerable people.
The Speed Indicator Devices can often be found in villages, near retirement homes, and in the streets surrounding schools.
Rolls-Royce is working with Westhampnett Parish Council, near Chichester, to improve traffic flows and road safety around the manufacturer's assembly plant.
The Goodwood facility is the headquarters of the iconic British marque, and currently employs more than 2,500 workers.

Andrew Ball, head of corporate relations at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said: "At Rolls-Royce, we're committed to being a good neighbour and having a positive impact on our local community.
"As the largest local employer, we inevitably have an impact on local traffic volumes, so we are especially keen to be involved in initiatives that support road safety and improved driver behaviour."
The Speed Indicator Devices will collect data, including the date, time and speed of each vehicle that passes by.
However, Rolls-Royce has confirmed that the data is anonymous, and the devices do not track the number plates or identities of the motorists.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
The insight is aimed at helping develop measures that could improve traffic volumes and crack down on times of the day when speeding is more prevalent.
The devices will also aid in planning for enforcement activities, including police speed checks or traffic calming measures.
Mr Ball continued, saying that Rolls-Royce was delighted to support Westhampnett Parish Council with the new devices.
Installation of the devices has been placed in key locations on roads in the neighbouring village of Westhampnett and the hamlet of Maudlin.

"The Speed Indicator Devices will make a lasting contribution to the safety and wellbeing of residents and our workforce alike," Mr Ball said.
Rolls-Royce has been active in supporting the local community around its Goodwood facility, including the recent completion of a new circular footpath route.
The upgraded footpaths are fully accessible for all people, in all weather conditions, 365 days of the year.
Jess Fuller-Brown, the Liberal Democrat MP for Chichester, supported the upgrades to the 416 and 417 footpaths and inaugurated the opening.
