Iconic Auto Sports’ SP40 turns a 1934 Ford homage into a 480 hp carbon-fiber beast that’s now available stateside
The bizarre creation you see here is called the SP40, and while the name might sound like something out of Ferrari’s Special Projects catalogue, this car comes from an entirely different world.
Built by Iconic Auto Sports, the SP40 Restomod Speedster is a homage to the 1934 Ford Model 40, reimagined through modern engineering and a distinctly custom flair.

Underpinning the SP40 is a dedicated tubular spaceframe chassis developed by Argentine engineer Pedro Campo. Iconic Auto Sports has then installed a Ford-sourced 5.0-liter Coyote V8 with over 480 hp and mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Given the low-slung shape of the SP40 and the fact that all of its bodywork is made from carbon fiber, it’s no surprise that it’s very light. The car weighs just 1,190 kg (2,623 lbs), and it features independent double-wishbone suspension and adjustable coilovers, which should make it a hoot to drive.
It’s also been equipped with Brembo brakes at all four corners.
The example shown wears a discreet black finish, though the Argentine firm says each SP40 will be built to suit its owner’s exact preferences. That means no two cars are likely to look quite the same.
Only a few photos of the cabin have been released so far, but they reveal an interior rich with leather, deep bucket seats, and wood detailing across the dashboard. As with the exterior, the interior can be customized with different materials, letting buyers match the car’s atmosphere to their own taste.
While there are a growing number of high-priced, low-volume cars from small brands on the market, the SP40 is unlike anything we’ve seen. It sits low like a rat rod, but thanks to the sleek carbon-fiber bodywork, it looks much more premium. It also brings with it some modern influences, including the circular LED headlights
There’s no word on how much the SP40 will cost, but it is available in the United States through Iconic Auto Sport’s local office in Miami, Florida.
