Four people are in the hospital after a violent crash that caused one car to go up in flames. It happened last night in Scripps Ranch, near Spring Canyon Road and Blue Cypress Drive. NBC 7’s Audra Stafford has more.
At least four people were taken to the hospital after a fiery two-car crash in Scripps Ranch on Monday, officials said.
The collision happened around 5:40 p.m. near Spring Canyon road and Blue Cypress Drive, near the San Diego Fire Department’s Station 37.

Investigators say a white BMW was headed west, and a red Tesla was going east, when the Tesla made a left turn in front of the BMW. The BMW became fully engulfed in flames, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokeswoman Candace Hadley said.
The Tesla driver had life-threatening injuries, according to Sgt. Robert McDonald from the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division. In the BMW, one person’s injuries were described as significant, while the other two had minor injuries, McDonald said.
One person was found lying in the street, but it was not immediately clear if that person was ejected or taken out of the car.
Police closed off some of Spring Canyon Road Monday night. The roadway was reopened overnight.
The proximity of the fire station allowed for a quick response to the scene, and may have made a difference. Firefighters inside Station 37 heard the crash outside their building and immediately responded to temper flames.
