San Diego City Council approved the new decision last week to introduce this new law.
By buying the permit, residents will not have to pay meter charges for parking.
This comes after the Council rolled out new parking meters for weekends across San Diego.
The Sunday permit is forecast to cost $150 and be enforced in the Downtown, Uptown and Mid-City areas.

The Council claimed the decision was aimed at helping car owners park at a discounted rate compared to the new meters.
The City’s staff report said: ” A well-calibrated paid parking strategy on Sundays would promote equitable use of limited parking resources while supporting the economic vitality and accessibility of these popular districts.”
Residents, however, are concerned this new permit will price them out of the area.
The new law is expected to bring in an average increased revenue of $2.8 million to San Diego City Council.
