STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A car overturned in a crash at a busy intersection on Hylan Boulevard in Eltingville on Thursday afternoon, prompting a large emergency response.
Onlookers at the scene were amazed that the driver walked away from the badly-damaged vehicle without serious injuries.
The crash occurred on Hylan at its intersection with Richmond Avenue just after 3 p.m.
There was a large FDNY and NYPD presence at the scene.
The vehicle, a gray sedan, could be seen lying on its roof in the crosswalk.
The sedan had damage to the doors on both sides.
No other damaged vehicles were visible at the scene.
Several lanes of traffic were blocked by emergency responders.
