A section of the N25 is closed this morning, as emergency services remained on the scene of a serious incident overnight. A stretch of the busy East Cork route has been shut to traffic since last night after a pedestrian was hit by a car.
The pedestrian was a young man who was very seriously injured after being struck by a car on the road near Dunsfort, between Midleton and Castlemartyr.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident, which occurred just after 11 pm last night.
The man, who is in his 20s, was rushed to Cork University Hospital with injuries that are described as serious. His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

Gardaí and a unit from the Cork County Fire Service are still on the scene this morning. Emergency services have put local diversions in place. The road is shut in both directions, causing some issues for commuters this morning.
The road is expected to reopen later today, while in the meantime, motorists are advised to leave plenty of time to allow for delays to their journeys this morning.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. Road users with camera footage between 10.45 pm and 11.15 pm are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
