A MAJOR motorway and a busy A-road have ground to a halt after a horror crash involving a motorbike sparked rush hour chaos.
There is heavy congestion on the A46 in both directions in Gloucestershire and Somerset, and the M4 in both directions near junction 18 for Bath and Stroud.

It is understood that a horror smash involving a motorbike and a car, brought the roads to a standstill.
Avon and Somerset Police are on the scene along with National Highways traffic officers.
It remains unclear if anyone was seriously injured in the incident.
Diversions were put in place in the wake of the collision, but these have led to jams on local roads across Gloucestershire and Somerset.

Rush hour commuters are being urged to check their route before travelling.
National Highways said: “The A46 South is CLOSED between M4 J18 and A420 (Cold Ashton) due to a collision involving a motorcycle and a car.

“National Highways Traffic Officers are on scene assisting Avon & Somerset Police.

“We will pass on updates as we get them from the police.”
