It was a Thanksgiving miracle.
An elderly woman miraculously only suffered minor injuries Wednesday after a freight train slammed into her car along a New Jersey highway — and dragged it for a quarter mile, authorities said.
The woman, 82, stopped her vehicle around 3:05 p.m. after she saw crossing lights for the oncoming train along Route 535 near Stults Road, the South Brunswick Police Department told Patch.com.
But she didn’t realize that she had actually stopped her car on the train tracks — causing a Conrail freight train to plow into her, police said.
Images showed the woman’s grey sedan parked across the train tracks as the train barrels down on her.
The locomotive blasted into her car and pushed it a quarter mile down the tracks, authorities said. Route 535 was closed for two hours until Conrail crews cleared the vehicle from the tracks.
The woman was taken to a local hospital with only a minor leg injury.
The incident remains under investigation.
