A 32-year-old man died in a crash on the M4 in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services closed the eastbound carriageway of the M4 between Junction 17 and Junction 18 following a single-vehicle incident. Police said the victim was travelling in a black Mercedes that veered off the road. Another man in the car has been hospitalised with serious injuries.
Wiltshire Police were called to the scene at around 2am near Leigh Delamere services. The motorway remains closed between Junction 18 for Bath and Junction 17 for Chippenham. National Highways has said that there is "no definite timeframe" for re-opening.
Wiltshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team is appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage, to contact them on 01225 694597, quoting log number 40 of today’s date (30/11).

Wiltshire Police said: "We are sad to report that a 32-year-old man has died following a road traffic collision involving a single vehicle on the M4, in the early hours of this morning.
"The man’s next of kin have been informed and they are receiving support from specially trained officers. Our thoughts are with them.
"Another man who was in the car is receiving hospital treatment for serious injuries.
"The collision took place at about 2am this morning (30/11) on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 between Junction 17 and Junction 18."
Google traffic is now showing another accident on the M4 westbound which is making traffic issues worse.
There are queues back from just before the motorway's junction with the M5 going back several miles to the M32 junction.
The M4 remains closed for about five miles eastbound between Bath and Chippenham after the earlier serious accident.
That is now affecting traffic on connected routes witn major delays on the A46 and A429 and traffic building at the junction with the M32, according to National Highways.
Wiltshire Police has asked motorists to seek alternative delays following the road closure.
The force said, in a statement on social media: "Please be aware of closures currently in place on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 between junction 17 and 18 following a road traffic collision.
"Please seek alternative routes and be aware of potential delays in the area. Thank you for your patience."
Road users have been advised to follow the Solid Square diversion symbol on road signs. The diversion is as follows:
The M4 is closed eastbound between J18 (Bath) and J17 (Chippenham).
National Highways explained that traffic caught between the junctions would be turned by traffic officers and released via the rear of the queue. It said this morning: "This can be a slow process and it may take time before you see movement, thanks for your patience."
There is currently no news on when the road will be re-opened. National Highways has said: "Although no definite timeframe can be given for re-opening at this stage, early indication suggest the closure will remain in place throughout this morning and into the afternoon."
After a single vehicle collision in the early hours of the morning, multiple emergency services attended the scene, including Wiltshire Police, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and South West Ambulance Service.
National Highways Traffic Officers were also at the scene to assist the emergency services by providing traffic management.
National Highways has said: "All traffic caught within the closure was turned and released via rearward relief."
