Paul Walker was born in Glendale, California on September 12, 1973. His mother was a fashion model while his father, Paul William Walker III was a former amateur boxer, becoming a two-time Golden Gloves champion during his career.
From humble beginnings as a child model, making an appearance in a TV ad for Pampers to starring in television and B films, Walker was made for the screen.
Some of the most notable supporting roles Walker has been in are in “Varsity Blues” (1999) and “She’s All That” (1999).
2001 was the year that changed Walker’s life forever as he was cast for “The Fast and the Furious” starring opposite Vin Diesel. Its commercial success launched the movie into an iconic franchise spawning a plethora of films still going on today. Not only this, it also established Walker as a film star and leading man.
Outside of his acting career, Walker was known for his charitable nature. In response to the damage created by Typhoon Haiyan, he started his own charity, Reach Out Worldwide, to raise money for the victims.
After attending one of his charity events in Valencia on November 30, 2013 at around 3:30 p.m, Walker left with race car driver Roger Rodas in Walker’s 2005 Porsche Carrera GT. Rodas was driving over twice the speed limit on Hercules Street in Valencia.
Going eastbound, just west of Constellation Road, in the industrial park, Rodas lost control of the vehicle and ended up crashing into a lamp post and two trees, quickly catching fire after impact according to Sgt. Brian Allen of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at the time of the investigation.
Both men were burned beyond recognition and ultimately killed. After the investigation concluded, the car’s speed and the age of the tires were deemed as the cause of the crash.
Walker’s untimely death was mourned by many fans of his work in the Fast and Furious films and he was paid tribute to in multiple films after his death like “F9” (2021) with an off-screen cameo in his iconic Nissan Skyline GT-R. Walker received much love outside of the Fast and Furious franchise such as getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2023.
