Porsche will once again be competing on the big stages of international motorsport in 2026 with ambitious goals. The Porsche Formula E team aims to win further titles in the World Championship with the 99X Electric. In the North American IMSA championship, the Porsche Penske Motorsport works team will compete with the optimised 963. In addition, two customer racing cars are set to make their competitive debut: the 911 Cup in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and three regional one-make cups, as well as the comprehensively improved 911 GT3 R in global GT championships and at selected top events.
Porsche Motorsport presented its comprehensive programme for 2026 at the traditional "Night of Champions" in Stuttgart on 29 November. The core elements remain the factory commitments in the FIA Formula E World Championship and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

"Porsche and motorsport – they are inextricably linked. With the Cup version of the 911, we are building one of the most successful and best-selling customer racing cars worldwide: the recently unveiled new model will compete in the Supercup and Carrera Cups in Germany, the USA and Asia Pacific in 2026," explains Dr Michael Steiner, Member of the Executive Board for Research and Development at Porsche AG. "We have been promoting young talent for decades: this autumn, we held another junior talent search, which produced two new talents for 2026. We remain committed to endurance racing: in the IMSA with the Porsche 963, in the WEC in the LMGT3 class. And we are intensifying our commitment to Formula E, where the 26/27 season will see the premiere of the GEN4 race cars with greater freedom for manufacturers. We learn in motorsport in a highly competitive environment, which also helps us on the road. The interaction between motorsport and series development here in Weissach makes our sports cars unique and fit for the future."
"The 2025 motorsport year was once again an extremely successful one for Porsche. The titles in the Formula E World Championship and the IMSA series are impressive proof of this," says Thomas Laudenbach, Head of Porsche Motorsport. "Second place at Le Mans, just 14 seconds behind – that hurts, no doubt about it. The fact that we were also able to fight for the world championship in the WEC in the end was made possible by tremendous teamwork. We have achieved significant success in customer racing: another class victory at Le Mans, all GT titles in the WEC, DTM victory and only narrowly missed successes in the big 24-hour races at the Nürburgring and Spa. Now we have repositioned ourselves and are starting afresh – in Formula E as early as next weekend, and at the end of January in Daytona. The 2026 season will be more exciting than almost any other before.”
Porsche enters the 2025/2026 Formula E season as the reigning Teams' and Manufacturers' World Champions. It is Porsche's seventh season. In addition to the factory Porsche Formula E team, the US customer outfit Andretti Formula E will compete with the highly efficient Porsche 99X Electric in the current GEN3 Evo version. Cupra Kiro will continue to participate as a second Porsche customer team, relying on 99X technology from the previous GEN3 generation. On the driver side, Swiss driver Nico Müller is moving from Andretti to the factory team. He succeeds António Félix da Costa, whose support helped Porsche win three world championship titles in the past three seasons. The twelfth Formula E season, which begins on 6 December in São Paulo, is the last under the current rules: the third-generation cars are embarking on a farewell tour. Testing has already begun on the new, over 800 PS fourth-generation cars. GEN4 promises the biggest performance increase in the history of Formula E to date. Preparations for the introduction of the new cars in 2026/2027 are running parallel to the 16-race World Championship battle – a special challenge for Porsche's Formula E project.
After winning all championship titles in the 2024 and 2025 seasons, the Porsche Penske Motorsport works team wants to remain the benchmark in North America next year: in 2026, two Porsche 963s will once again compete in the top GTP class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. On the last weekend in January, the two hybrid cars will compete in the season opener at the 24 Hours of Daytona. Frenchman Kévin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor from Belgium will be the regular drivers in the number 6 car. The sister car with the number 7 will be shared by Brazilian Felipe Nasr and Julien Andlauer from France. At the endurance classics in Daytona and Sebring, as well as at the season finale "Petit Le Mans" at Road Atlanta, reigning IMSA champion Matt Campbell from Australia (number 6) and former Porsche Junior Laurin Heinrich from Germany (number 7) will support the factory team. The US customer team JDC-Miller MotorSports will also be back on the grid in 2026 with a Porsche 963.
Porsche is making a number of changes to its squad for the 2026 motorsport season. Former Porsche Juniors Laurin Heinrich from Germany and Ayhancan Güven from Turkey will be promoted from Porsche drivers to works drivers from next year. Heinrich has proven himself by winning the IMSA GTD Pro Championship title, while Güven impressed last season by winning the DTM title. The extended Porsche driver squad will also include two Frenchmen, Alessandro Ghiretti – Porsche Junior in 2024 and 2025 – and Dorian Boccolacci, who is sponsored by Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific. British driver Harry King is the third new addition.
In addition to IMSA and Formula E, Porsche Motorsport will also continue to compete in digital racing at factory level. The Porsche Coanda Esports Racing Team moved into a new headquarters in Cologne in May, the Porsche Esports Performance Centre. The team there will be joined by 25-year-old Spaniard Alejandro Sánchez Belloso, former champion in the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup. In 2026, he will join the existing factory drivers Joshua Rogers, Charlie Collins and Dayne Warren. Before the new season begins, however, the Porsche Coanda Esports Racing Team will continue to fight for a successful end to the year with its current line-up. Collins and Elvis Rankin recently won the IMSA Esports Global Championship. Ahead of the final on 7 December, the team is in second place in the standings. The new Porsche juniors Schuring and Amand – who are just as talented in sim racing as they are in asphalt motorsport – are also set to compete in the final, which will take place on the digital Daytona circuit. With a wildcard, they celebrate their debut as new Porsche Junior drivers in Esports.
In the 2026 season, Porsche customer teams will compete with the comprehensively improved 911 GT3 R in the biggest GT series and at the most important stand-alone events, including the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the DTM, where Porsche celebrated numerous titles in 2025 together with professional partner teams. Extensive deployments are also planned in the IMSA Championship, the GT World Challenge and the major 24-hour races at the Nürburgring and Spa-Francorchamps. In the GT4 sector, customer teams will continue to rely on the proven and extremely successful Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
Important innovation in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup: in 2026, customer teams will compete for the first time with the new Porsche 911 Cup in the eight races held during European Formula 1 weekends. The 382 kW (520 hp) vehicle will also make its debut in the Carrera Cups Germany, North America and Asia Pacific in the coming season. The teams will have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the new Cup racing car at the beginning of March: a joint rollout of 50 brand-new cars from the Supercup and the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany will take place on the Formula 1 circuit in Barcelona. The Carrera World Cup is also scheduled to take place at the same venue in 2026. Porsche expects up to 100 one-make cup drivers to take part.
Flynt Schuring and Marcus Amand are the two Porsche Juniors for the 2026 motorsport season. The two 19-year-olds from the Netherlands and Finland prevailed in a shootout involving a total of twelve talented youngsters around two weeks ago. Both will compete in the full season of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and in a national Porsche Carrera Cup next year. Amand won the Porsche Carrera Cup France title in 2025, while Schuring won three races in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany and finished third overall in the Supercup. In addition to a total of up to €120,000 per junior, Porsche Motorsport's support also includes intensive training in areas such as vehicle technology, set-up work, fitness, nutrition, media and marketing work, and career planning. Porsche Motorsport has been promoting young talent on their way to professional racing since 1997. With great success: Le Mans winners Timo Bernhard and Marc Lieb, IMSA champions Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet, and reigning DTM champion Ayhancan Güven all came through the renowned talent factory of the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer.
Dutchman Loek Hartog was handed the traditional Porsche Cup on Saturday, 29 November. The 23-year-old prevailed against 497 competitors from a total of 53 nations to become the 56th title holder. Hartog's achievements in 2025 include class victories in the GT World Challenge Europe and the Intercontinental GT Challenge, and he also finished on the podium at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. The 2024 Porsche Carrera Cup North America champion will receive €150,000. Porsche Motorsport will award a total of more than €280,000 in prize money to the most successful private drivers. The Porsche Cup was launched in 1970 on the initiative of Ferry Porsche.
