A road accident in Lisbon turned into a tragedy on Sunday when a car caught fire with six people trapped inside.
The incident, which occurred between 3am and 4am, claimed the lives of all six occupants. According to CNN Portugal, the vehicle left the road, struck a pavement and then a wall, before bursting into flames while the passengers were still inside.
Although the car was designed to seat five people, it was carrying six, three men and three women. Authorities told CNN Portugal that two people were seated in the front and four in the back. All six died in the fire. Two of the victims have so far been identified as a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old. Investigators believe the group may have been a circle of friends.
