The Seltos grows up with sharper styling, modern tech, and a likely self-charging hybrid option
Kia has shared the first official teasers of the second-generation Seltos while confirming its global premiere for December 10. The subcompact SUV, positioned just below the Sportage in Kia’s lineup, has been fully redesigned and is expected to introduce a hybrid powertrain option.

First launched in 2019 and refreshed in 2022, the Seltos now enters its second generation with a broader redesign intended to keep it competitive in a crowded segment.
The teasers confirm the boxier stance seen in earlier prototypes while revealing sharper surfaces shaped by Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy.
Adopting EV Styling Cues
The company says the new Seltos “blends the rugged heritage of past ICE SUVs with the clean, aerodynamic sophistication of Kia’s latest EVs.” Up front, that translated to slim vertical LED headlights frame a wider grille with integrated daytime running lights.
The rising beltline and floating roofline draw parallels to the all-electric Kia EV5, echoed in the combination of horizontal and vertical LED taillights. e can also see the flush door handles, the modern mirrors, and the aluminum trim on the roof and skid plates
Buyers will again have the option of rugged X-Line or sportier GT-Line variants, each with subtle styling differences.
Subcompact SUV Is Growing Up
Although Kia has yet to release the full dimensions, the new Seltos appears slightly larger than the current model, which measures 4,365 mm (171.9 inches) in length. The modest increase should translate to a roomier cabin and improved practicality.
No interior teasers have surfaced yet, but Kia promises a “high-tech character,” hinting at its latest digital cockpit, new materials, and upgraded driver-assistance systems.

Powertrain options are expected to include gasoline and hybrid versions, potentially joined by an e-AWD configuration. The range may feature an updated turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and the self-charging hybrid setup shared with the related Hyundai Kona and Kia Niro.
The Seltos remains a global model and will continue to serve multiple markets. Its new generation could also make its way to Europe, positioned just below the Sportage. Full details will be revealed when Kia officially unveils the 2026 Seltos on December 10.
