A dramatic video of a car slowly sinking into a hidden pothole submerged by rainwater in Poonamallee has gone viral, exposing the dangers posed by Chennai’s flooded
roads.
As Cyclone Ditwah continues to bring widespread rain, several areas remain waterlogged. Since morning, Poonamallee and nearby neighbourhoods have experienced heavy downpour, turning the entire service road near Velappanchavadi into a water-filled stretch.
The road, already dotted with deep potholes, has become treacherous for motorists.
In one such incident, a car travelling through the flooded service road unknowingly drove into a concealed pothole.
Despite several attempts, the vehicle began sinking gradually.
Realising the danger, the young driver quickly stepped out to save
himself.
The incident, captured on video, is now widely circulating on social media, raising fresh concerns over road safety during the
rains.
