The country's largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki, after waiting on the sidelines for a very long time, is finally joining the electric vehicle bandwagon. The company will be launching its first-ever electric SUV, the e Vitara, on December 2nd. Now before the official launch takes place, here are all the details which you need to know about the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.
The first and main highlight of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is that it is not just an electric SUV that will be sold in India, but rather it is a global SUV which is being produced in India and exported to international markets.
The first export batch of the e Vitara was flagged off by PM Modi from Maruti’s Hansalpur plant, Gujarat, and over 2,900 units were shipped in August 2025 alone. It will be exported to 12 European markets including the UK, Germany, France, Norway, Sweden, and many others. Maruti Suzuki aims to sell the e Vitara in 100+ global markets.
The e Vitara is not an electric SUV which is based on any other Maruti Suzuki product. Rather, it is an electric vehicle which has been designed from the ground up. On the front, it features uniquely designed Y-shaped LED headlights with LED DRLs, a closed-off grille, and chunky bumpers with a rugged lower portion.
It also boasts sharp cuts and creases, aerodynamic 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, thick door cladding, and chunky wheel arches. As for the rear, it gets Y-shaped wraparound LED tail lamps and a blacked-out rear bumper which adds to the adventure-ready appearance of this upcoming electric SUV.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be offered in 10 colour options including Nexa Blue, Splendid Silver, Arctic White, Grandeur Grey, Bluish Black, and Opulent Red. There will also be four dual-tone options that feature a Bluish Black roof. These will include Land Breeze Green, Splendid Silver, Opulent Red, and Arctic White.
Now coming to the dimensions of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, it will measure 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height. As for the wheelbase, it will be 2,700 mm. The e Vitara is based on Maruti Suzuki’s HEARTECT-e battery-protection architecture.
As for the interior, the e Vitara will boast the most premium interior design and materials of any other product from the brand. It will be getting an all-new dashboard design, digital cockpit layout, twin-deck floating center console, and a dual-tone black and tan upholstery and color scheme.
Maruti Suzuki, to make the e Vitara feel more premium, will offer soft-touch materials and gloss black elements across the cabin. Other notable highlights of the e Vitara’s interior will include a new two-spoke steering wheel, panoramic fixed glass roof, 10-way power adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seats, and ambient lighting.
In terms of the tech and audio system, it will get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, 10.1-inch digital driver display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and an Infinity by Harman premium audio system with multiple speakers, tweeters, and woofer.
The standard Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will boast a 49 kWh battery and a single front axle–mounted electric motor making 144 PS and 193 Nm. As for the range, it will be providing a claimed range of 344 km. Then there will be a longer-range 61 kWh variant which will also get a single FWD electric motor offering 174 PS and 193 Nm, and its range will be 426 km.
Internationally, the e Vitara is also being offered with an AWD dual-motor powertrain as well. This version makes 184 PS and 300 Nm. However, most likely, buyers in India will not be offered the AWD version initially. The e Vitara with AWD also gets Eco, Normal, Sport, Snow.
As for charging, the company will be offering a 7 kW AC charger which will take the battery from 10–100% in the 49 kWh battery in 6.5 hrs and the 61 kWh battery in 9 hrs. And with the 11 kW AC (10–100%) for the 49 kWh battery pack, charging will happen in 4.5 hrs, and the same for the 61 kWh battery will happen in 5.5 hrs. Lastly, DC fast charging (10–80%) will take 45 mins for both the 49 kWh and 61 kWh.
The upcoming e Vitara will be one of the safest cars from Maruti Suzuki. It will boast 7 airbags, ESC, TPMS, all-disc brakes, 360° camera + parking sensors, and Level-2 ADAS. Its ADAS suite will include features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot alert, rear cross-traffic alert, high beam assist, and autonomous emergency braking.
The expected starting price of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be in the range of Rs 17–18 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be taking on rivals such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv.ev, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, and the VinFast VF6.
