Two men have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs following a dramatic but brief car chase at a Plymouth retail car park.
The incident took place earlier today in the Friary retail car park in Exeter Street and saw officers from Plymouth's Proactive Team briefly pursue a black Ford Puma.
Video captured by a local shopper, Myla, caught part of the chase which saw the Ford Puma attempt to head down a road in the car park. However, moments later, a number of unmarked police cars carried out a tactical stop, blocking in the suspect's car.
The passenger of the Puma was seen on the footage racing from the car on foot, pursued by a number of officers from the Proactive Team. A member of the public was also seen pulling up in a large vehicle and joining the foot pursuit.
A spokesperson for the Proactive Team told PlymouthLive: "Two males have been arrested following an incident at the Friary retail car park today. A 54-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and possession of class A drugs.
"A 27-year-old male has also been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs."
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said the arrests followed "a failure to stop and collision with a police car at a retail park off Exeter Street, Plymouth, on the afternoon of Tuesday 2 December."
Both men were taken to Charles Cross police station custody suite where they remain awaiting interview.
