A Rhode Island man was killed Monday, Dec. 1, in a late-night car crash in Westport.
According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Westport police responded to reports of an overturned vehicle off the side of the road in the area of 591 Horseneck Road just after 11 p.m. on Monday.
When they arrived on scene, they found a 2018 Dodge Challenger in the woodline.
The sole occupant of the vehicle, the driver identified as 36-year-old Zane Martin of Warren, Rhode Island, was extricated by Westport police and pronounced dead a short time later, the DA’s office states.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with the Westport Police Department.
The Westport fatal was one of two serious motor vehicle crashes in Bristol County on Monday.
Easton police also responded to a four-vehicle crash at the intersection of Routes 138 and 106 in that town.
One of the drivers, a 50-year-old woman, was transported to a Boston medical facility in critical condition, and two other drivers suffered minor injuries.
