The CHP said two Tesla vehicles, a Lexus and a Toyota Sienna were involved in the crash. Three of those vehicles – both Teslas and the Lexus – caught fire.
The adult and child who were killed were passengers in the Lexus, the CHP said. The driver of the Lexus was taken to the hospital. Their condition wasn’t immediately known.
A driver in one of the Teslas was also taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, according to the CHP. Information about any potential injuries associated with the other Tesla involved in the crash wasn’t immediately available.
The driver of the Toyota Sienna stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities before being released, the CHP said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Drug and/or alcohol impairment do not appear to have played a role, according to the CHP.
