MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) – In Madison County, a new set of patrol vehicles was added to the fleet, thanks to more than $1 million secured through federal funding.
Congressman Dale Strong says the goal is to put deputies in safer, up-to-date cars.
And the sheriff’s office says the costs add up quickly.
“Every car you see costs $80,000. After you buy the car, after you put the lights, after you stripe it — it’s $80,000. That’s what it costs to put a police vehicle on the streets,“ said Sheriff Kevin Turner.
Leaders say the investment boosts safety, supports growing staff, and helps morale across the department.
