The state of Colorado continues to have a major problem with auto theft. We have previously covered that the Centennial State had been the top state for auto theft rates for the past few years. However, our state has made progress.
Colorado is no longer the top state for auto rate thefts. We are now the seventh.

Auto theft is still happening at a high rate in Colorado. The Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority just launched a new program for victims of auto theft.
If your vehicle is stolen, the state of Colorado urges you to check out the Victims Assistance Grant Application. The grant focuses on motor vehicle and catalytic converter theft.
If you are a Colorado resident and become a victim of these thefts, you can fill out a form and actually receive funding for transportation, storage and towing, cleaning, reimbursement on repairs, and other needs.

You would need to turn in an application and include your contact information, details of the crime, and other critical information in order to get the grant.
According to KDVR, Colorado State Patrol recovers over 80 percent of vehicles stolen in the state, and this will be the third year the program has been in place.
