Fiat has taken an unexpected page from BMW’s playbook by debuting a one-of-one ‘art car’ version of its brand-new Topolino. Dubbed the ‘Brittolino,’ in reference to both its diminutive size and its creator Romero Britto, the Topolino was presented for the first time during Milan Art Week and will now take up temporary residence at the Britto Palace art gallery in Florida as Fiat continues to evaluate a potential North American release for its brand-new city car-cum-quadricycle.

Much like BMW’s 20-strong art car collection, which has spent much of 2025 on a World Tour to celebrate the collection’s 50th anniversary, the Brittolino Fiat features a bespoke look penned by, and painted onto the Fiat directly, by Italian artist Romero Britto himself. Said design combines Cubism, pop art and graffiti to best represent Britto’s “vibrant, colorful style” that’s adorned galleries across more than 120 countries to-date. Following its Art Week debut, the Brittolino will be on display for the foreseeable future at the Britto Palace in Miami, Florida, aka the largest art studio in the world.
Significantly, Britto’s Topolino art car is also being used to test the waters for a possible North American release of the quadricycle, which made its US debut earlier this year at the Los Angeles Auto Show:
“The Fiat Topolino, our small, joyful, colorful car that is now everywhere in Europe, has made several appearances in the U.S. over the past year, including last month at the LA Auto Show, where it’s creating tremendous excitement among consumers. So much so that I’m happy to share that we’ll be bringing the Fiat Topolino to the U.S., with more details to come next year.”
– FIAT CEO Olivier Francois
The two-seater EV is currently only available in Italy though interest, apparently, has also stretched further afield in Europe to France and Germany. The Topolino is also said to have received a stronger than expected reception at the LA and New York Auto Shows, with select Fiat dealerships even receiving display models to guage potential customer interest.
Mickey Meets Mario Kart
Powered by a six-kilowatt electric motor, and built on the same platform as the Citroën Ami, the Topolino seats just two people, boasts a 47-mile range from its 5.5-kilowatt-hour battery, and goes no faster than 27 MPH. Hardly the first form of transport you’d think of in a land dominated by pickups and seven-seater SUVs. Notably, however, MSRPs start from around the $8,000 USD mark, and though any kind of haulage is clearly ridiculous, Fiat has, rather cleverly, created enough onboard storage space for a picnic basket and/or beach bags (in the passenger footwell), plus carry-on luggage and even a couple of beach umbrellas in the rear rack behind the seats. The display model at LA featured no doors, though these are available as an optional extra, while closing the fabric roof is as simple as pulling a zipper. The cheaper price, convenient recharging times (the pseudo-golf buggy plugs straight into a conventional 110-volt outlet), plus a sudden interest (ahem) in smaller cars populating the US, means the Topolino could prove popular in beach towns, resorts, and/or narrow downtown streets in certain parts of North America.
Though BMW is, of course, synonymous with ‘art cars,’ this is not the first time that Fiat has followed the Bavarian brand’s inspiration. In 2011, for example, the Italian marque launched the 500 Thousandth Edition of its definitive city car, complete with photos of 1,500 of the brand’s fans and customers (the 500 was suitably christened Fiat’s “collective car.”) In 2007, meanwhile, the Italian brand commissioned artist Esther Mahlangu to create a custom livery for the revived 500, a project that later headlined the African artist’s ‘Why Africa?’ exhibit later that year. Mahlangu would later don BMW’s E35 525i sedan with a similar design.
