Police are urgently searching for three men who fled from officers on the A19 east of Northallerton this afternoon.
A black Ford Kuga was found abandoned near the Tontine, close to Osmotherley, shortly before 3pm today.
The vehicle had failed to stop for police a short time earlier.
Officers are now trying to trace three men who are believed to have been travelling in the car and may still be in the local area.
One of the men is described as white with a dark beard, while another is described as Asian, with dark hair and a beard.
No description is currently available for the third man.
Police are urging residents, motorists and local businesses to remain vigilant and to report any sightings immediately.
Anyone who has seen men matching the descriptions, or who has dashcam or CCTV footage from the surrounding area, is asked to contact police without delay.
