A federal agent was involved in a car accident that led to the agent’s vehicle resting atop an Interstate 794 retaining wall on Dec. 8.
The crash occurred around 7:48 a.m. Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office deputies broke the vehicle’s rear window, allowing the FBI agent to crawl out of the SUV. The driver of the striking vehicle told sheriff deputies they swerved into the federal agents’ vehicle to avoid another car, which had suddenly braked or swerved, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
The crash occurred on I-794 eastbound at Second Street, according to the news release.
Neither the FBI agent nor the driver of the striking vehicle reported injuries.
Caroline Clancy of the FBI’s Milwaukee division confirmed the person struck was a member of the local office. The agent was not struck during the course of an operation or investigation, the spokesperson said.
The agent went to the hospital for an evaluation, the spokesperson’s email said.
The striking driver will be cited for unsafe lane deviation, according to the sheriff’s office news release.
