A group of children were hit by a vehicle in the car park of a supermarket.
Emergency services were called to the Asda carpark in Brighton Marina this afternoon after four children were hit by the car.
A spokesman for Sussex Police confirmed that the collision involved a car and that the children were pedestrians. A total of five people were treated at the scene and three were taken to hospital.
“The collision happened near the ASDA car park at about midday, and involved a car and a group of four children.
“Temporary road closures will be in place while emergency services respond to the incident.
“Witnesses or anyone with information about the collision can report it to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 543 of 09/12.”
An eyewitness said he was just putting his shopping in the car when he looked across and saw the incident.
The man, who asked not to be named, said: “Pedestrians have been knocked down in the Brighton Marina car park.
He said: “I was putting my shopping away after going to Asda and I looked over. They were conscious but lying down being treated. It looked like the car involved was still nearby but I wasn’t sure if it was that one.
“I didn’t see the collision happen but saw the aftermath.
“I saw one person on the road being attended to and two people on the side of the road but not unconscious,” he said.
“There are a lot of questions which need answering.”
He said an ambulance arrived on the scene very quickly.
