Wenne Davis, an actor who appeared in "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" and "New Amsterdam," died Monday after being struck by a vehicle in New York, police confirmed. Davis was 60.
The New York Police Department told USA TODAY that officers responded to reports of a vehicle collision at around 8:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, where Davis had been struck while walking at the intersection of West 53rd Street and Broadway. Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad found that a black Cadillac, operated by a 61-year-old man, hit Davis in the crosswalk as he was turning left.
Davis "sustained severe trauma to the head and body," according to authorities, and was transported to a nearby Mount Sinai hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.
