(Gray News) — Wenne Alton Davis, an actor known for their appearance as a police officer in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” was struck and killed by a car in New York City, according to reports.
The New York Police Department confirmed Davis’ death to People, saying the collision happened at about 9 p.m. Monday.
NYPD said the 61-year-old driver was making a left turn at West 53rd Street and Broadway in Midtown Manhattan when he struck Davis.
The actor was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Davis, who used they/them pronouns, was 60.
NYPD told People the driver remained at the scene. No arrests have been made.
Davis’ agent at Clear Talent Group confirmed to The New York Times that Davis was killed in the crash.
Davis was known for playing a police officer in an episode of the Amazon Prime series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” Davis appeared in one episode of season 5, which aired in 2023.
Davis’ IMDb page shows acting credits dating back to 2004. Their appearance in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” was their last.
According to The New York Times, Davis was born in North Carolina and came to New York in their late 20s to pursue stand-up comedy before turning to acting.
Davis’ Instagram page shows they were a proud cat owner and loved boxing.
