In a freak accident, a speeding car vaulted over the NH44 median near Laalagondanahalli in northeast Bengaluru, flipped into the opposite lane, and crashed into an oncoming KSRTC bus on Wednesday (December 10, 2025) night. The impact killed all three occupants of the car on the spot.
The accident occurred around 11.30 p.m. near Laalagondanahalli Gate, close to Devanahalli. The deceased have been identified as Mohan Kumar, 33, Suman V., 28, and Sagar S., 23, all residents of Sadahalli on the city’s northeastern outskirts.
A preliminary police probe revealed that the trio was returning from a wedding when they crashed into the Bagepalli-bound KSRTC bus. The police suspect the car was being driven at a high speed, causing the driver to lose control. The car reportedly skidded for nearly 100 feet before leaping over the median into the opposite lane.
“The collision caused the car to topple again and land on the divider. The intensity of the crash is evident from the condition of the vehicle, which is irreparable,” a senior officer from the northeast division told The Hindu.
Police were unable to retrieve the speedometer to estimate the vehicle’s speed. The victims’ bodies were severely mutilated, leaving no possibility of shifting them to a hospital. A blood test has been requested to determine whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
Of the 25 passengers in the KSRTC bus, three sustained minor injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals. All are out of danger.
The location has no CCTV coverage, leaving police without visual evidence of the incident. Based on a complaint from the bus driver, Devanahalli Traffic Police have registered an FIR against the deceased.
Police have invoked BNS Sections 281 (rash driving on a public way), 125A (act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 106(1) (causing death by negligence).
