BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has opened a new racetrack, aiming to expand car culture from enthusiasts to the general public.
The racetrack, located in Zhengzhou, Henan province in central China, is the company’s second racetrack following the one in Hefei, Anhui province, and officially opened on August 14.
The racetrack features a 1,758-meter circuit with nine turns and a straight-line acceleration section of up to 550 meters, which can support a maximum speed of over 220 km/h.
Unlike traditional racetracks with a single circuit design, BYD has incorporated diverse terrain features at this facility, including a water-filled section and an area simulating a desert landscape with inclines.
The racetrack also has a 15,300-square-meter multi-function area that offers slalom, smart parking, AEB, and moose test experiences.
This is one of China’s first new energy vehicle (NEV) dedicated all-terrain racetracks, which aims to address the high barriers to entry, difficulty in making reservations, and lack of projects at traditional racetracks, allowing more people to experience the fun of racing, BYD said.
BYD and the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of China have jointly launched what it calls the “New Track Plan,” which aims to give millions of people the opportunity to experience track driving to cultivate a car culture in China.
The racetrack is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, with a 60-minute introductory package priced at RMB 599 ($83).
In addition to the Hefei and Zhengzhou racetracks, BYD plans to open another racetrack in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, in eastern China by early 2026.
BYD will build a natural mountain off-road base in the east China region, covering an area of 2,000 mu (1.33 square kilometers) at an altitude of 500 meters, it said.
