A car has gone into the water on Turret Rd, Tauranga.
A reporter at the scene said emergency services are at the end of the bridge where the road heads to Welcome Bay.
“I can see flashing lights … traffic is moving, but very slowly. Traffic is still
A police spokesperson said a vehicle has gone off the road at the bridge, northbound.
“It appears the driver may have had a medical event.”
A police officer at the scene told NZME a male driver of the vehicle was taken to Tauranga Hospital.
The cause of the crash was being investigated.
A Rowe Motors tow truck has just arrived on the scene.
Hato Hone St John was notified of this crash at 10.26am and responded with one ambulance and two rapid response vehicles.
“One patient was assessed at the scene and was taken to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition.”
