San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is sparing no expense to help his community during the holiday season.
It’s a tradition around this time of the year for NFL quarterbacks to give their offensive linemen a little “Christmas bonus.” I always love seeing what the QBs gather up and give to the guys that help protect them all season long. This time around though, Brock Purdy took things a step further and decided to gift some very nice items to community members in need.
Signed football, jerseys, tickets to a game… and brand new cars, to be exact.
The soon-to-be 26-year-old quarterback, who signed a 5-year, $265 million deal back in May, went all out to help out San Francisco families in need. Military veterans and families fighting pediatric illnesses were all invited to meet with Purdy and receive some blessings from “Mr. Irrelevant.”
Brock Purdy, who went to the 49ers with the very last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, teamed up with Toyota to make the Christmas blessing happen:
“This holiday season, I teamed up with Toyota to give back to our community. Specifically with some families who are going through some tough times. We have a handful of families that we’re going to help out with Toyotas, plus some other exciting things like game tickets, gear, and signed footballs.”
So cool to see.
Purdy first welcomed everyone, then helped hand every family a goodie bag with a signed football and a special jersey inside. Then, Brock and the 49ers gifted all of the families that were present with tickets to their final game of the year against the Seattle Seahawks. And finally, all the families were led outside by Brock Purdy to see their brand new cars.
Fortunately for Brock Purdy, he’s got a national partnership with Toyota, so the car company undoubtedly gave him a pretty good deal on all of the vehicles (or just happily donated them to Purdy). Last year, Purdy gifted all of his linemen with new Toyotas. This year, those new cars went to people in the community that really needed them.
Regardless of how much Purdy put forward to provide these gifts that you typically only see in holiday car commercials, it’s a very generous offering from the young quarterback. And every family that was there was incredible grateful and probably a tad overwhelmed with all of the generosity they received all at once. The ending of the video featured some of the families speaking on what the gifts meant to them, and it was easy to see that these gifts truly had an immeasurable impact.
Other quarterbacks across the league should take note. With all of these massive, multi-million-dollar contracts flying around, the QBs can afford to bless both their offensive lineman and their community around Christmas.
