Two elderly people sustained “non-life threatening injuries” after their car went off the second storey of a parkade on Cambie Road on Monday afternoon, according to Richmond RCMP.
Their car landed upside down in the 8000-block of Cambie Road, near Hazelbridge Way, around 3:20 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22.
A nearby witness provided assistance while Richmond Fire-Rescue and BC Emergency Health Services paramedics responded to the incident.
"The cause of the incident remains under investigation," said Const. Frank Bryson, media liaison officer with Richmond RCMP.
"Currently, we are still working to confirm the roles of the occupants in the vehicle and the circumstances leading up to the collision."
Westbound Cambie Road traffic between Hazelbridge Way and the mall entrance was blocked, but the roads reopened around 5:30 p.m.
BC Emergency Health Services said they transported two people to hospital in "serious condition."
Several ambulances were on scene, including two with primary care paramedics, one with advanced care paramedics and one paramedic supervisor, according to Brian Twaites, BCEHS paramedic public information officer.
