UPDATE: The suspect who shot a Chattanooga police officer Sunday night at a Highway 153 gas station was then shot by officers before stealing a patrol car, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) says.
After the suspect shot an officer, “multiple officers returned fire” and shot the suspect, according to the TBI.
That suspect then fled the scene in an empty police car, all the way into Sequatchie County.
Officers and Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers pursued the man in a chase, which ended on Highway 111 where they arrested him.
The TBI said both the suspect and injured officer were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The identities of the suspect and injured officer, and the seriousness of their injuries, are currently unknown.
The TBI’s investigation is ongoing.
