A large firework exploded within a car in Gold Bar on New Year’s Eve, Sky Valley Fire confirmed, sending two people to the hospital.
“Initial reports are explosion caused by fireworks, both patients are seriosly injured and now being transported,” Sky Valley Fire wrote on social media in an update.
According to KIRO 7, one victim, a woman, suffered serious injuries to her face, while the other victim, a man, suffered serious hand injuries.
The firework may have been a mortar shell, Sky Valley Fire told KIRO 7.
The incident is under investigation, as it is unclear how the firework was set off, as of this reporting.
